Only one and a half hours from downtown Atlanta, you won't believe how remote you are!

 

From downtown Atlanta:

 

Take I-75 North to I-575 North

Follow I-575 to Hwy 515 North to Ellijay, GA

Turn left on Hwy 52 (at Hardees) toward downtown Ellijay and Chatsworth

Follow Hwy 52 to downtown Ellijay where there is a very nice British traffic circle

Exit the circle at 1pm following Hwy 52 toward Chatsworth

Go approximately 5 miles (to MM 8) and turn right on Gates Chapel Road (paved)

Follow Gates Chapel for 5 miles until the pavement ends

Turn right onto Wilderness Trail (dirt road)

Go 2 miles to the stop sign and turn right toward Conasauga Lake

Go 3 miles to the yield sign at a T junction and turn left

The cabin is the 5th one (and last one) on the left

 

The road can be rough in places, and very messy during rainy weather.  Four wheel drive is not necessary, but it sure makes it nice.  I've seen BMW's and Ford Escorts up there;  however, an SUV would make the ride much more comfortable.
